DAVID STANLEY DIES AT ADVANCED AGE

David Stanley, son of Temple and Anna Stanley, was born in Greensborough, Henry County, Indiana, March 27, 1840, and departed this life January 18, 1925, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 21 days.

He was the third son of a family of five boys and three girls. He was a birthright member of the Friends church and remained true to this faith throughout his life.

When about 15 years old he with his parents, brothers and sisters, came from Indiana to Iowa in a covered wagon taking about two weeks to make the journey. They landed on a farm where his son Luther now resides. He was united in marriage to Belinda Williams April 10, 1862. Two children were born to this union, Luther, who was a help and comfort to his father in his old age and Anna who departed this life almost 5 years ago. He is survived by his wife, one son, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Sugar Creek church by Anna Alberry of Stuart, Iowa, who was pastor here a few years ago, assisted by Robert Lincoln of Grinnell. Interment was in Sugar Creek cemetery.
