ROBERTA OLTROGGE

Roberta Oltrogge, 78, of Grinnell died on Saturday, June 25, at the Mayflower Home Health Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. John Saxton, chaplain of the Mayflower Home, officiating. Pianist will be Kathleen McCune. Casket bearers will include Dave McCurry, Kirk McCurry, Dave Prather, Rick Prather, Shawn Prather, Clay Pritchard and Bill Tinkle. Honorary bearers will include Colon Arnold, Justin Arnold, Chandler Calhoun, Gary Calhoun, Jason Calhoun, Greg Prather, Clark Taylor and Joshua Tinkle.

Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call at the funeral home starting at noon on Thursday; the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1926, in Grinnell, the daughter of Fred and Grace McDowell Taylor. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1944.

On June 22, 1946, she married William "Bud" Oltrogge in Grinnell. The couple lived here, where she worked at the Grinnell Shoe Company and DeLong Sportswear. From 1967 to 1987, she worked at the Miracle Recreation Co. in Grinnell as a press operator. Following her retirement she worked part-time at the Cinema Theatre.

She was a resident at the Mayflower Home for the past three years.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Grovenburg of Grinnell, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Clark Taylor, a sister, Jelene Watkins, and three nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
