His Brother, Who Survives Him, is the Only Member of the Class That First Graduated.
----------------------------------

Rev. J.H. Windsor died yesterday at his home in LaGrange, Ill. This statement will not convey very much to the later generation of Iowa College students, but means much to anyone who is acquainted the the history of *Iowa College and Congregationalism in Iowa. Mr. Windsor and his brother, Rev. William Windsor, of Los Gatos, Calif., were the only members of the first class that ever graduated from Iowa College. That was in 1854, when the College was still at Davenport. The latter is still living and was expected to deliver the Christian Associations address last commencement, but was prevented from being here.

The deceased was eighty years old and had been a pioneer missionary in the early days of Iowa. He did valuable pioneer work in the vicinity of the Dubuque lead mines and was the founder of the Congregational churches at Waterloo and Charles City. His life has been full of good works and he was highly honored by the College and all who knew him. He rests from his labors and his works do follow him.

Transcriber Note: *now Grinnell College
