ANOTHER VETERAN GONE.
Audubon, Jan. 23,--Special: Died, at Prescott, Arkansas, Jan. 20, 1896, John Delahoyde, aged 65. Comrade Delahoyde enlisted at Grinnell, Iowa, in Company F, Tenth Iowa Infantry, August 22, 1861; promoted February 1 1862, to second lieutenant; to adjutant, May 1, 1862; to acting assistant adjutant general, Second Brigade, August, 1862; wounded in left groin, May 22, 1863; resigned Nov. 6, 1864, on account of wounds. Comrade Delahoyde was as warm-hearted and brave an Irishman as ever fought for his adopted country--loyal to his adopted country and loyal to his friends.--Register.
Mr. Delahoyde was a resident of this place for many years after the war, and though not a republican in politics, was elected city treasurer for several terms, away back in the seventies.
