--Mrs. Sarah Hays, wife of Uncle John Hays, died the 8th inst. She was one of the earliest residents of the county, having come to Grinnell when there was scarce a house standing, and to Chester in '58, when there were only three families. For years she has experienced many sufferings, but has borne them all with Christian fortitude and resignation. She was universally beloved. The funeral services were conducted by Elder Brande.
