VIOLET C. COOMER

Violet C. Coomer, 74, of Kellogg died Friday, Sept. 15, of complications following surgery at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Lyle Johnston of the Kellogg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

The daughter of Charlie B. and Mata Elizabeth Dishman Owens, she was born Oct. 16, 1914 at Monticello, Ky. She attended Jasper County schools.

She was married to Harvey "Jack" Coomer Oct. 19, 1931, in Newton.

Mrs. Coomer was a retired machine operator for Midwest Manufacturing Co. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church and the Kellogg Garden Club.

Surviving are one son, Richard of Kellogg; a daughter, Helen Heckert of Urbandale; three grandchildren; a brother, William Owens of Newton; and two sisters, Maye Howe of Newton and Grace Adams of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Ernie; and two sisters, Martha Carpenter and Gladys Owens in infancy.
