HARRY G. COOMER

Harry G. Coomer, 62, of Kellogg died of a heart attack Monday, July 20, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Mike Johnson of the Kellogg Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg.

The son of Elmer and Molly Burton Coomer, he was born June 21, 1930, in Wayne County, Ky. He was married to Beulah Mae Caulkins Oct. 31, 1953, in Kellogg. Mr. Coomer had been a resident of Kellogg for 40 years.

He retired in 1988 after working for 33 years at the Maytag Company. He later worked as a maintenance man at the Capstone Center in Newton.

He was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church and the United Auto Workers Retirees Union. He had served in the Military Police during the Korean conflict.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Jeffrey of Grinnell; one daughter, Kathy Wells of Newton; four grandchildren; one brother, Leonard of Milford, Ind.; and four sisters, Orpha Kennedy of Columbus, Ind., Lula Burchett of Crawfordsville, Ind., Laura Crider of Columbus, Ind., and Dorothy Riggs of Monticello, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Jack, Odie, Carl, Norman and Kermit.
