WAYNE GAUMER, 64 DIES SUDDENLY; RITES AT MURRAY

A Grinnell businessman, Wayne Gaumer, 64, of 817 Commercial St., died suddenly Wednesdy morning at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Christian church at Murray, Iowa, with the Rev. Glenn Lamb, pastor of the Indianola Methodist church officiating.

Burial will be in the Hopeville, Iowa, cemetery with graveside rites conducted by members of the Murray Masonic Lodge. Friends may call at the Watts Funeral Home in Murray.

He had been employed most of his life as an automobile mechanic, but in recent years had operated the Grinnell Frozen Food Company with his son, Philip.

The son of Benjamin Franklin and Laura Belle Smith Gaumer, he was born Dec. 17th, 1899, in Clarke county, Iowa. He graduated from Oseola high school.

On June 26th, 1922, he was united in marriage with Darlene Clark at Glenwood. To this union were born six sons: Robert B. Gaumer of Phoenix, Ariz.; Donald W. Gaumer, Paul C. Gaumer and Larry D. Gaumer of Indianola; and Philip D. Gaumer of Grinnell.

In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by 15 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ross (Icea) Carr of Grand River, Iowa.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Grinnell and Surprize Lodge No. 396 of the Masonic Lodge at Murray. In addition to Grinnell, he had resided at Hopeville, Arispe, Osceola and Indianola in Iowa, and at Omaha, Neb.
