GRADUATE OF SIXTY-NINE PASSES

The Herald has received word of the death of another of the earlier graduates of Grinnell college, Mrs. Anna Robbins DeForest who died June 8 at the home of her daughter in Beloit, Wisconsin. Mrs. DeForest was a daughter of Dr. A.B. Robbins of the Iowa Band and long pastor of the Congregational church of Muscatine. She graduated from Grinnell college in 1869 and in the fall was married to H.S. DeForest who was at that time pastor of the First Church in Des Moines. He afterwards became president of the Talledega college in Alabama and for nearly twenty years she had lived in that place.

Mrs. DeForest leaves two sons and one daughter: Lee DeForest, well kown as a pioneer of radio and an inventor in various lines, of whom most reading people have heard a good deal in the last ten years; the other son is Charles DeForest, founder of the modern Health Crusade and the Knighthood of Youth; the daughter is the wife of Rev. Mr. Ralph of Beloit, Wisconsin. Mrs. DeForest has made her winter home for years in Palo Alto, Calif. and has always been an earnest worker in the church. There are many people living here who remember her well and all friends of Grinnell college will regret her death. She has been an exceedingly useful woman and the world has been helped by her living in it.
