--James Dorrance was born in Stark county, Ill., Sept. 12, 1847, and died in Brooklyn, Iowa, Sept. 17, 1905, aged 58 years and five days. His entire life has been spent on the frontier where he has endured all the hardships and privations incident to pioneer life. His has been a life of honest toil and self denial, sacrificing for the welfare of others and forgetful of self to an unusual degree. He lived peaceably with all men, yielding his own rights, rather than provoke strife and contention, and making the golden rule the guide of his life and practice.--Brooklyn Chronicle.
