OBITUARY

ADDIE BURR SPARKS

Addie Burr Sparks was born Oct. 23, 1874, at Kewanee, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Adams. She died Sept. 4, 1956 at a Montezuma nursing home.

She was married in Newton to Crawford Sparks. She lived in Grinnell until the past two years, when she had been living in Montezuma.

Survivors include a son Merle of Newton, a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Alma Adams of California, Delilah Adams of California, Mercy Watson of Estherville, Iowa, Charles Adams of Grinnell, and Walter Adams, David Adams and Orrin B. Adams, all of California.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 7, at the First Friends church in Grinnell with burial in Hazelwood cemetery. The Smith funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Judson Blakely, Clarence Decatur, Leonard Evans, Howard Hyde, Croft Pilgrim and Raymond Pilgrim. Music was provided by Sybil Renaud, Mary Lou Mikel and Celia Whitely. The Rev. Charles O. Whitely, pastor of the First Friends church, officiated.
