FORMER RESIDENT, DELILAH BROWN, DIES IN WEST

Word has been received of the death Feb. 25th at San Bernardino, Calif., of Mrs. Delilah M. Brown, former Grinnell resident.

Born in Grinnell on Sept. 23rd, 1878, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Elizabeth Adams, one of a family of 12 brothers and sisters. She spent her childhood and youth on a farm southeast of Grinnell.

On Sept. 6th, 1899, she was united in marriage with George D. Brown, who preceded her in death in 1935. To this union were born four sons, Leon E. of Panorama City, Calif., Maurice M. of Billings, Mont., G. Burdette of Rock Island, Ill., and Donald A., who preceded her in death in 1955; and four daughters, Mrs. G.D. (Naomi) Koger of Yucaipa, Calif., Mrs. Elizabeth Eicher of Reseda, Calif., Mrs. R.P. (Ruth) Evans of Myrtle Point, Ore., and Mrs. F.W. (Esther) Thorp of Marshalltown.

In addition to her seven children, she is survived by 25 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; two brothers, Orin and David Adams of Visalia, Calif.; and two sisters, Miss Alma Adams of Visalia, Calif., and Mrs. W.P. Watson of Estherville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son and by one great grandson, Jeffrey P. Koger in 1961.

Funeral services were held Feb. 28th in Yucaipa, Calif., with the Rev. William Sloan of the First Baptist church of Yucaipa, officiating. Interment was in Montecito Memorial Park, near Riverside, Calif.
