MRS. CHARLES ADAMS FUNERAL HELD MONDAY
--------------------------------------

Elizabeth A. Adams was born in Mallorytown, Ontario, Canada, October 11, 1853 and died at her home in Grinnell, Iowa, South Park St., July 18, 1925 at the age of 72 years. When she was 11 years old she came with her parents to Illinois where they lived until they removed to Poweshiek county, Iowa, about 3 1/2 miles south of Grinnell some 50 years ago. Thus she has been one of the early pioneers of this community. On September 15, 1870, she was married to Charles Melvin Adams of Wisconsin. To this union were born 12 children, seven boys and five daughters, one son dying in infancy. The others are living and are as follows: Alma Adams, Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. Rhoda Andrews, Grinnell, Iowa; Addie Adams, Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. Delilah Brown, Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. Mercy Watson, Newton, Iowa; Edward Adams, Newton, Iowa; Walter Adams, Malcom, Iowa; Charles, David, Orrin, and Bert of Grinnell, Iowa. Besides these she has 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also three sisters, Mrs. Delilah Lee, Mrs. Beulah Keyes, and Mrs. Lucy Bennson, all of Los Angeles, California. Her niece, Mrs. Bailey Keyes of Los Angeles was present when she died and visiting in her home in Grinnell.

Mrs. Adams attended church services at the Maple Grove School while she was living in the country and well enough to be about. Seventeen years ago her husband died and left her to walk the way of this world alone. During that time she has patiently accepted her lot and amid her sorrow and poor health has exemplified the characteristics of Christian fortitude and faithfulness. She was also a member of the local Rebekah lodge which organization conducted the service at the grave.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church conducted by Rev. W.J. Todd.
