ELLA MOTHERSPAU

Graveside services were held Saturday morning, April 18, at Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery for Mrs. Ella Motherspau, 89, of Whitney, Texas, a former resident of Brooklyn, who died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, in the Clifton Care Center, Clifton, Texas.

The Rev. Dr. William B. Daylong officiated. Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ella Motherspau, daughter of John Clive McCarl and Emma Hood McCarl, was born April 11, 1909, at Dale.

She was married to Harold E. Motherspau on May 26, 1925, at Marshalltown. They lived in Iowa and Ohio where she was a department manager for 27 years at Burmans Stores in Dayton, Ohio. They retired and moved to Lake Whitney, Texas, on Dec. 5, 1964.

Mrs. Motherspau was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church, Lake Whitney Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary; McCowen Valley Club, Double Nickel Club and Senior Citizens Club, all of Whitney, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on Aug. 28, 1968, a son, Harry Bruce Motherspau, and a daughter, Joann Motherspau.

Mrs. Motherspau is survived by her children, Gerald E. Motherspau of Whitney, Texas, Roberta Caballero of Lafayette, La., Dorothy R. White of Whitney, Dora Richmond of Whitney, and Lawrence W. Motherspau of Seminole, Okla; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
