FUNERAL SERVICES CONDUCTED TODAY FOR GUS KALLFASS

Gus Kallfass, 62, died at his home at 1131 Reed Street early Tuesday. He had been ill about one month.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. L.H. Streich, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Waldo Johnson.

Pallbearers were Earl Blair, George DeHart, David Keller, Allen Murray, Don Phillips, and Bernard Schmitz. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of Gustave and Louise Gebert Kallfass, he was born Nov. 20th, 1900, in Enctail, Germany. He grew up in Germany, attending schools near his home. On Sept. 30th, 1922, he was united in marriage with Elsie Gommel at Stuttgart, Germany. She survives.

They continued to make their home in Germany until 1928 when they came to the United States, setting at Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed as a cook at the university hospitals there for 19 years until moving to Grinnell in 1947.

In Grinnell, he was employed as a cook at Grinnell College. Recently he was employed by Saga Foods at the college.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
