We have just received a note from Henry T. Hanlin, telling us of the death of his father, George Henderson Hanlin, on July 11.

Mr. Hanlin was born in Washington county, Pa., May 23rd, 1842, and moved to Iowa in 1852. He lived on a farm until he enlisted in Company A, Third Iowa Cavalry, on Sept. 19th, 1861. At the close of the war he moved to Grinnell and engaged in the drug business for ten years. After that he entered the First National Bank where he remained until January 1st, 1889. He was one of the trustees of the Congregational church for a number of years. He was married to Emily Timmerman of Grinnell in 1870.

In 1889 he came to Tacoma, Wash., and was in business until his retirement in 1913. He is survived by one son, Henry T., and one grandson, George Louis. He has one sister, Mrs. Marian Kilbourn, of San Diego, Calif., and one brother, Mr. James Hanlin of Chicago. His remains will be brought to Grinnell for burial.
