MARGARET PATTEN

Mrs. Margaret Patten, 86, of Brooklyn, died Monday morning, Dec. 24, at Brookhaven Nursing home where she was a resident.

Services for Mrs. Patten were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. Kalen K. Fristad, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. Nina Bartachek was organist. Casket bearers were Lyle Oswood, Robert Thompson, Robert Niemann, Maynard Saylor, Jack Patten, and Gene Patten. Interment was in Brooklyn cemetery.

Margaret Drake Patten, daughter of John Arthur Drake and Eva Mae Fritz Drake, was born July 27, 1904 on a farm north of Brooklyn.

Mrs. Patten was a life-long resident of the Brooklyn area. She received her education in rural schools and did housekeeping work for various families in Brooklyn. She was united in marriage to Ira Patten.

Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Charles and Sylvia Drake of Brooklyn, Donald and Lois Drake of Boone, and Allen and Marie Drake of Ames, and two sisters, Dorothy Vyskoeil of Cedar Rapids and Mary Lou Drake of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Ruth and Ruby, and two brothers, Raymond and Robert.
