The Grinnell Herald; March 11, 1902

--Mary Russell Wadsworth Cogswell was born in Hancock, N.H., in 1817. She was united in marriage with Mr. Carlton Wadsworth. To this union four children were born, all of whom have passed on before the mother. After the death of Mr. Wadsworth in 1868, she was joined in marriage with Mr. G.W. Cogswell. The most of her life was passed in Henniker, N.H., where she united with the Congregational Church sixty years ago, retaining her membership in that church until the time of her death. Eleven years ago she came to Grinnell to make her home with her son, the late Mr. E.C. Wadsworth, and remained with the family after his death. For thirty years she has been a suffering invalid, enduring her trials with Christian fortitude. The future life always seemed near and vividly real to her, and she longed to go.
