RAYMOND SELLE SERVICES HELD

Raymond L. Selle, 64, of 918 Hamilton Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday evening, March 20, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Damon Reese, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Sears, organist, and Leroy and Doris Calvin and Gil and Cynthia Christopher, vocalists.

Pallbearers were Shell Criswell, Virgil Doud, Leonard Hendrickson, Mac Holderness, Steve Kriegel and Bernard Simmons. Flower bearers were Esther Criswell and Velma Simmons.

Burial was at the Westfield Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Selle's name may be made to the Grinnell Hospice Group.

The son of George and Ada Hoover Selle, he was born Feb. 14, 1918, on the family farm southwest of Grinnell. He attended the rural Westfield School and helped his father with farming. He was married to Nettie Charlotte Tinkle Herter on May 15, 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Selle lived in the Grinnell area following their marriage.

Mr. Selle was associated with the Norris Sinclair Gas Station and the Grinnell Police Department and later owned and operated a poultry farm northeast of Grinnell. The family moved to Grinnell where Mr. selle was a self-employed trucker until retiring in January 1981 due to health problems. He spent the last six months of his life with his daughter on the family farm where he was born. He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Grinnell Coin Club and the Grinnell Stamp Club.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Richard L. Selle of Bella Vista, Ark., and Charlotte Hendrickson of rural Grinnell; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Selle.
