NETTIE SELLE

Nettie C. Selle, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Grinnell, died Saturday, Sept. 14, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls.

A graveside service was conducted Thursday at Westfield Cemetery south of Grinnell, with the Rev. Don Johnston, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Grinnell, officiating. Pallbearers were Leroy Calvin, Jeff Hendrickson, Mike Kriegel, Allen Martin, Brian Thompson and Don Turner. The Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Dan and Alta Rowe Tinkle, she was born May 30, 1915, in Millersburg. She was raised in the Millersburg area and was a graduate of Millersburg High School. She later received her teaching certificate from Drake University and taught at Westfield Country School for several years.

She was married to Raymond Selle May 15, 1938, and the couple lived in Grinnell. She had resided at the Cedar Falls Health Care center for several years.

Mrs. Selle was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in church missionary work.

Survivors include two children, Richard of Frisco, Texas, and Charlotte Martin of Grinnell; one sister, Mildred Hotchkiss of Huxley; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Richard and Warren Tinkle; and two sisters, Alice Holderness and Floss King.

A Nettie C. Selle Memorial fund has been established.
