GEORGE SELLE SERVICES SET

George R. Selle, 80, of the Westfield community died Sunday morning (Jan. 20) at Grinnell General Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. He had been in failing health in recent months.

The son of Louis F. and Cora Otcheck Selle, he was born southwest of Grinnell on Sept. 19, 1893. He attended the Westfield rural school. On Feb. 24, 1915, he was married to Ada B. Hoover in Grinnell. Mr. Selle had farmed all of his life, and he and his wife had lived on their present farm since 1921.

He is survived by his wife Ada; his children, Raymond Lloyd Selle of Grinnell and Mrs. William (Judith) Vonk of Arlington, Tex.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne E. Selle, on Aug. 7, 1972; a grandson, Donald Wayne Selle, on Oct. 30, 1973; three brothers, Louis Selle, Verne Selle and Clifton Selle; and three sisters, Mrs. Cora Simmons, Mrs. Grace Decatur, and Mrs. Rose Pearce.

Funeral services for Mr. Selle will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery southwest of Grinnell.
