OBITUARY.

S.W. DICKERSON

S.W. Dickerson was born on August 19, 1825 at Hill, N.H., and died at the home of his daughter, Tuesday night, from the infirmities of old age, being past 81 years old.

He was married on Oct. 15, 1846, to Miss Amanda Hoyt and moved to Wisconsin in 1858. Two years later he went into Illinois and in 1872 came into Iowa where he and his wife spent the remainder of their lives with the exception of nine years.

To the happy union of heart and soul were born ten children, six of whom are living as follows: Mrs. N.A. Cooper and A.C. Dickerson of this city, E.A. Dickerson of Hornbeck, La., M.F. Dickerson of Newton, and Mrs. A.F. Barnes and Mrs. F.A. Cousins of Carrington, N.D. Seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive him.

In his youthful years he became a member of the Baptist church, maintaining his relations with that denomination throughout his life and living before men an upright, consistent Christian life. His wife preceded him to the Better World last August.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. N.A. Cooper, yesterday afternoon at one o'clock. The services were in charge of the Masonic Lodge of which deceased was an honored member. Dr. J. Arthur Hurley assisted with the services and the remains were laid to rest in Hazelwood cemetery.
