DIED.

GUY WHEELER.

Guy Wheeler, a former Grinnell boy and a famous football player on the college teams of 1899 and 1900, was buried at Malcom today. He died in Denver, where he had made his home for the past few years, in a hospital where he had gone to undergo an operation on an injured arm which had caused him much trouble. Hospital pneumonia set in following the operation and caused death.

Guy's mother, who now makes her home in Minneapolis, was with him at the end and brought the body to Malcom from Denver. His sister, Mrs. Luna Wheeler Bopp and her husband, and his brother, Frank Wheeler, who had been in the South, were here for the funeral. His body was laid to rest beside that of his father.

Ed Wheatley, an old time friend went down from Grinnell to attend the funeral.

During his athletic career Guy Wheeler was one of the prominent figures in the Iowa collegiate world. He played center on the Grinnell football team and was one of the first expert drop kickers to be developed in the state. His death will be learned with regret by those who remember his deeds on the gridiron.
