ORETA RYDER

Oreta Ryder, 86, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at her home of congestive heart failure.

A memorial will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at her home, 1807 Tenth Ave. N, in Nashville. Her body has been cremated and her ashes will be inurned at a later date at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

She was born Aug. 14, 1919, in Livonia, Mo., to James and Elizbeth Molder Wright. She was educated in Grinnell schools, graduating from Grinnell High School. She was married to Harold Ryder in 1959 in California. She was a certified nursing aid (CNA) and a member of New Harvest Pentecostal Church in Cedar Rapids.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Erickson of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son James Ryder; one brother Leo (Hoop) Wright, and three sisters, Velma Wheeler, Gladys Neighbors and Claris Dickerson.
