EMORY S. FARLEY, MALCOM RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY

Longtime rural Malcom resident Emory S. Farley, 69, died suddenly Monday afternoon in his home.

Born Aug. 29, 1899 near Ewart, Farley was the son of Joseph and Clara Ann *Reed Farley. On Aug. 17, 1927, he was united in marriage with Helen Ford at the Ford residence near Malcom. To this marriage were born three daughters: Mrs. Merland (Carol LaRue) Pfantz of rural Grinnell; Mrs. Clair (Charlotte Eileen) Porter of Perry; and Mrs. Clair (Carmen Helen) McGriff of Cedar Rapids. Farley was a member of Holly Chapter No. 477, Order of Eastern Star, Lilly Lodge No. 254, AF&AM and the congregation of the Malcom Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Farley is survived by his six grandchildren: Christine, Joy, Terri, Marsha and Sherri Porter and Julie McGriff; a brother, Wilmer Farley of Exira; and a sister, Miss Leila Farley of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by four grandchildren and two brothers.

Funeral services for Emory S. Farley were held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Davidson, pastor of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Masonic rites will be conducted by Carl Draegert, Master of the Funeral Lodge, and by members of Lilly Lodge No. 25, AF&AM. Casket bearers will be Duane Larsen, Burdette Farley, Bruce Ryan, David Ford, Jerry Dale and Bill Simmons. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
