ROGER J. LANGFORD

Roger J. Langford, 69, of Grinnell, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in rural Poweshiek County.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, at Arbor Lake Park in Grinnell with the Rev. Walt Claussen, pastor of the Newburg-Chester Congregational Church, officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 6 p.m on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the family present to greet friends from 2 until 4 p.m.

Memorials may be designated to the Roger J. Langford Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.smithfh.com.

Roger was born on March 4, 1942, in Mankato, Minn., to Clarence Levi Langford and Mae Viola Bishop Langford. He was raised and educated near Mankato.

He was united in marriage with Victoria Tish on Aug. 21, 2004, at Arbor Lake in Grinnell. The couple has resided in Grinnell since their marriage.

Roger dearly loved his family. His other enjoyments included collecting John Wayne and Dale Earnhart memorabilia, working outdoors mowing and weeding his flower garden, fishing, and karaoke, and he looked forward to making coffee for his friends at Game Time every morning.

Roger is survived by his wife, Victoria Langford of Grinnell; his sons, Dan Langford of Newton and Rick Langford of Newton; one granddaughter; his step-children, Patrick Langford of Belle Plaine, Dominic Langford, who is serving in the U.S. Army, Tisha Langford of Cedar Rapids, John Langford of Belle Plaine, Rodney Tish of Missouri, Cheryl Hamilton of Grinnell, Teresa Williams of Brooklyn and Danny Tish of Brooklyn; his step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings, Dennis Langford of Virginia, John and Jerry Langford of Minnesota, and Ellen Langford of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
