RITES HELD FEB. 26 FOR MRS. POLLARD
Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Pollard were conducted by the Rev. Howard Hayes at the Steffy Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon, February 26. Miss Alice Underwood was the organist.
Casket bearers were Harold Swanson, Philo Brown, Ned Alexander, Richard Bowers, William Cummings and Marcus Shearer.
Interment was at Masonic-IOOF Cemetery.
Mrs. Pollard, 87 passed away Monday, February 24, at Faribault, Minn.
The only child of Alma and James Cummings, she was born near Malcom on Aug. 4, 1881. She attended school in Malcom and graduated in 1901. For several years she worked at the Malcom post office.
On October 27, 1909, she was united in marriage with Walter Pollard. To this union two sons were born. They made their home in Sigourney for several years where Walter managed a clothing store. In 1915 the family moved to Montezuma where they resided until Mr. Pollard's death in September, 1941. She made her home with her sons for several years and for the past few years has been cared for in a nursing home in Faribault.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church; a past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge; a past Chief of the Pythian Sisters and a charter member of the Mothers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Harry; one grandson, Frank and one granddaughter, Nancy.
She is survived by her son, James and his wife, of Osage, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Gertrude; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
