ESTELLA PHELPS MEMORIAL SET
Estella Ruth Phelps, 78, of 1103-1/2 Broad St., Grinnell, died of cancer early Friday at a nursing home in Marion.
Memorial services for Mrs. Phelps will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Mason City, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or other funds and left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Andrew J. and Estella Lakin Good, she was born Sept. 14, 1902, at Cawker City, Kan. She lived in Oskaloosa, Elk River, Minn., Montezuma and Helena, Mont., before coming to Grinnell in 1919.
On Aug. 29, 1919, she was married to Clayton L. Phelps. The couple had two children.
Mrs. Phelps was a member of the Drummond Club, the Soroptimists, the Daughers of the American Colonists, and the American Legion Auxiliary, of which she was past president.
Survivors include her daughter, George C. (Gerry) Burkart, of Marion, and a brother, Leonard A. Good of Williford, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Serge D. Phelps; and two brothers, Calvin V. Good and Charles E. Good.
