BILLIE CAROL MAY LEE
(Contributed)Billie Carol May was born on March 9, 1919, near Newburg, the daughter of Glen and Bertha May.
She grew to young womanhood in that community and attended Newburg schools. On August 1, 1934, she was united in marriage at Newton to Odell Lee of Kellogg. They resided in this area for several years and then moved to Newcastle, Ind., in 1938, where they made their home until her death.
For a number of years she was employed at the Indiana state sanitarium near her home. The last few years her health prevented her from working. She died on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
She was active in auxiliary services to veterans and was a past state officer of the Amvets organization.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen May of Gilman; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Nellie) Sutten of Newburg, Mrs. Alden (Evelyn) Briggs of Columbia, S.C., and Mrs. Roger (Bonnie) Mason of Marshalltown; four brothers, Roy May of Idaho, Glen May, Jr., of Gilman, Delbert May of Lovelock, Nev., and Dean May of Marshalltown; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral servives were held Saturday, Feb. 16, from the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Roland M. Wendell officiating.
Interment was in Prairie View cemetery at Gilman.
