RITES HELD MONDAY EVENING FOR MR. OLTROGGE

William G. Oltrogge, 88, of 828 Park St., Grinnell, died Monday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Russell, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist church, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner. Pallbearers were Jack Collum, Jack McGinnis, Harley McIlrath, Wesley Meyer, Kenneth Rutherford, and Alvin Sheeler. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Ahrens, Dick Clark and Fred Taylor. Flower bearers were Mrs. Grace Brown and Mrs. Beatrice Inghram.

Burial was at the Sheridan Township Cemetery.

The son of Fred and Anna Matzen Oltrogge, he was born Feb. 7, 1888, in Sheridan Township. He attended schools in that area. On Dec. 31, 1912, he was married to Gail Haynes in Grinnell. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Oltrogge farmed in Minnesota for a year, then moved back to Sheridan and Chester townships. They had also farmed near Newburg for 20 years before moving to Grinnell in 1937.

Mr. Oltrogge is survived by his children, Mrs. Burnell (Fay) Beaty of Marshalltown, Murl "Bud" Oltrogge and Mrs. Gene (Joan) McCurry, both of Grinnell, and Jim Oltrogge of Lincoln, Neb.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Goreham of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail, who died in 1971; his parents; an infant son and daughter; a grandson; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lynch and Mrs. Margaret Schultz.
