FRIDAY FUNERAL RITES SET FOR LOUIS PICKHARDT
Louis H. Pickhardt, 77, of 1628 Seventh Ave., died Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital following a week's illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. Laverne Streich officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Waldo Johnson. Members of the flower committee will be Mrs. Charles Dillon and Mrs. Lester Foster.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Jensen, Edward Brand, Charles Dillon, W.H. Stayton, Hilliard Turner and Lester Foster. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery with James-Schalinske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The son of William G. and Ricka Illian Pickhardt, he was born Sept. 16, 1886, in Sheridan township north of Malcom. He attended the rural schools of that area and farmed there until his retirement in 1953 when he moved to Grinnell.
On Feb. 24, 1914, at Grinnell, he was united in marriage with Mae Cogley. She preceded him in death in June of 1959.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, St. John's Brotherhood, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, The Encampment, and the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his daugther, Mrs. Wells (Ilene) Weyrauch of Grinnell; his son, Lester L. Pickhardt of Malcom; and four grandchildren, Wanda Sue and Lowell Pickhardt and Gary and Neil Weyrauch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae; a daughter, Esther; an infant son and daughter; and three sisters--Mrs. Henry Oltrogge, Mrs. Martin Schultz, and Mrs. Alfred Meyes.
