Obit – Mrs. Elizabeth Dedrick Stanford

Elizabeth Stanford A County Resident Since January 1869

Sorrowing relatives and friends filled the Steffy Funeral Home March 29th to pay final tribute to a food friend neighbor and mother, Mrs. W.R. Stanford. The 2 pm service was conducted by Rev. Fran Jacobs, pastor of her church. Louis Gorsuch played the musical selections.

Interment was in the Masonic – 100F cemetery. Casket bearers were Louis Schoales, William Pitka, Fred Zorn, Luther Crawford, Fred Cochran and Herschel Smothers.

Elizabeth Johanna Diedrick was born Nov. 16, 1867, near Hamburg, Germany, a daughter of Joseph and Elvena Diedrick. She died Mar. 26th in St Francis Hospital, Grinnell, at 95 years, 4 months, and 10 days of age.

She came with her parents to Brooklyn, Iowa in January 1869. She attended rural school and Trinity Lutheran church north of Malcom, Later she become a member of the Methodist church in Grinnel and transferred to the Montezuma church in 1898.

She was united in marriage with w. F. Stanford, July 26th, 1885, they moved to Monte in 1898; She was active in the Rebekah order and was a past noble grand of Vashti Lodge.

Surviving are two children, Louis Stanford, Montezuma, and Mrs. Bessie Wilkinson, Greeley, Colo.: a grand daughter, two great grand children: Three brothers, Fred Diedrick, Grinnell, Joe Diedrick, Newton, and John Diedrick Malcom: A sister Mrs. Francis Grevalle, Los Angeles, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
