LARRY E. HAMOR JR.

Larry E. Hamor, Jr., 42, of rural Tama died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 in an automobile accident in Boone County.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 900 Park St., Tama, with the Rev. Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Thurday, Nov. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. A memorial fund will be established for his children. Kruse Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is handling arrangements.

He was born Aug. 12, 1966, in Grinnell, the son of Larry and Patricia Polka Hamor Sr. He graduated from South Tama High School in 1984. He was united in marriage with Cindy Scharnweber on Sept. 2, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was employed by Scharnweber Water Conditioning, Plumbing, and Heating as a plumber, and had been with the company for 24 years. He was a member of Turkey Federation and NRA. He raised deer for hunting preserves as well. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; children Kacee and Wesley; his parents, Patty Youngman of Tama, and Larry Hamor Sr. of Grinnell; two sisters, Deb Wagner of Chelsea, and Kelli Hulin of Gilman; three step sisters, Maralee Youngman and Melanie Nagle of Garwin, and Heather Mattingly of Spencer; two step brothers, Timothy Youngman and Rick Zhorne of Tama; his grandparents, Paul Polka of Tama, Paul Hamor of Grinnell, and Don Moore of Toledo.
