MYRL JACKSON

Myrl E. Jackson, 80, of 1401 Prince St., Grinnell, died Friday, May 18, in Liberty, Mo.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Ann Buchmeier, and vocalist was Raymond Brown.

Pallbearers were Valerie and Grey Raymond, Tammy and Daniel Shinneman, Wendy Swatosh and Chris Sears. Honorary bearers were David, Daniel, Dean and Donald Krumm. Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Camp Sunnyside or to the Masonic Burn Center.

The daughter of Francis and Carrie Mentzer Glaspey, she was born Mary 2, 1910, in South Liberty. She attended rural school near South Liberty and graduated from University High School in Iowa City in 1928. She received her teacher's certificate from the former Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught rural school in Johnson County.

She was married to Claire Jackson on April 21, 1933, in Montezuma. The couple farmed in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County.

Mrs. Jackson was a charter member of the Victor Grange and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Florence Wilson of Fairway, Kan., and Frances Sears and Jacquline Swatosh, both of Liberty, Mo.; her father, Francis Glaspey of Hills; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Velma Regsugger of Mitchellville and Catherine Ross of Jupiter, Fla.; and one brother, Robert Glaspey of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her mother; two brothers, Carl Glaspey and one in infancy; and a sister, Meda Butterbaugh.
