KARL PEARSON RITES THURSDAY

Karl M. Pearson, 72, of Gilman died early Monday, March 9, at Lykes Memorial Hospital in Brooksville, Fla., where he and his wife had been spending the winter.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Gilman United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Van Maanen officiating. Organist was Carol Plum. Pallbearers were Randy Fairchild, Curt Heinselman, Jerry Holcomb, Larry Manning, LeRoy Schneider and Jim Shults. Flower bearers were Inga Asp and Nellie Mitchell.

Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman. Memorials may be made to the Gilman United Methodist Church and left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The son of Charles B. and Eva Eighmy Pearson, he was born on March 25, 1913, in Monmouth, Ill. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1933, then worked on a farm near Van Cleve in Marshall County.

On April 11, 1941, he was married to Roxie Gooch in Unionville, Mo. The couple farmed near Melbourne and Albion, then farmed northeast of Gilman until moving to a farm north of Grinnell in 1957. After retiring, the couple moved to Gilman where Mr. Pearson worked at a fertilizer plant at the Gilman Cooperative. He had also worked on DeKalb seed corn plots.

Survivors include his wife, Roxie; one son, Thomas E. of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Dawn Elaine Juvenal of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Eilene, in infancy; and one brother, Charles.
