LOUISE ARMSTRONG

Louise Armstrong, 93, of Grinnell died Sunday, Sept. 3, at Friendship Manor.

A graveside service was held Thursday morning at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating.

The daughter of Noah Webster and Dora B. Morgan Halterman, she was born Nov. 6, 1906, in Grinnell. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Archie Armstrong Aug. 14, 1926, in Newton. They lived in Grinnell and later moved to Bartlesville, Okla., and Oklahoma City. They returned to Grinnell during World War II.

Mrs. Armstrong was employed as a seamstress at DeLong Sportswear and Reimers Clothing Store for many years and was later self-employed as a seamstress, working out of her home.

She was a 50-year-plus member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, Tom of Scottsdale, Okla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one great-grandson; five sisters, Dora Ruth Mowitt, Grace Simpson, Maude Smith, Edith Roe and Dolly Couper; and three brothers, Dewy, Noah and Claude Halterman.

A Louise Armstrong Memorial Fund has been established.
