MRS. SIMPSON RITES FRIDAY

Grace Simpson, 94, of Marshalltown, formerly of Grinnell, died Monday, June 20, at Villa del Sol Nursing Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Cook, pastor of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mrs. Simpson's name may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Noah and Dora Morgan Halterman, she was born April 7, 1894, at Danville, Mo. She moved with her family to Grinnell in 1900 and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1914.

She was married to James T. Simpson June 13, 1914, in Des Moines, and the couple lived in Grinnell. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Methodist Church here since 1907. She was also a member of the Grinnell Birthday Club and had worked as a poll clerk during elections here.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Plander of Marshalltown, Helen Arnold of Dallas, Texas, and Marilyn Bonyata of Crystal Lake, Ill.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Armstrong of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Robert; a daughter, Doris; one grandson; four sisters, Ruth Mowitt, Maude Smith, Edith Roe and Evelyn Couper; and three brothers, Dewey, Noah and Claude Halterman.
