Dorothy B. Ladely, 90
Dorothy B. Ladely, 90, of Ewart, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. Rev. Bob Zirkelbach of the Grace Community Church in Grinnell officiated. Music was provided by Matthew and Merriah Iverson. Musical tape selections were “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and “Tell Mother I’ll Be There.” Casket bearers were Matthew Iverson, Jeffy Iverson, Paul Pargeon, David Iverson, Jon Iverson and Paul Van Roekel. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart.
Dorothy was born December 25, 1906, near Montezuma, the daughter of Otho and Frances Elizabeth (Johnston) Sanders. She graduated from school and received a Normal Training Certificate. She taught school in Scott Township for two years and in Pleasant Township for four years. On February 4, 1927, she was united in marriage with Russell Ladely at New Sharon. They ___________ gether north of Ewart. Dorothy was raised Methodist and attended the Friends Church at Grinnell for many years. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Grinnell. Dorothy taught Sunday School for many years. She was a very good cook and a good seamstress. In later years, they traveled to many places including Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ralph, Roy, Robert, Howard, Marvin and Ceamon Sanders; and one sister, Edith Hockey.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Russell; their daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jerry Iverson of Apple Valley, Minn.; three grandsons, Matthew and wife, Merriah; David and wife, Darlene; and Jon; three great grandchildren, Jeffrey Michael, Brett Andrew and Brianna Kjersty; a sister, Marjorie Elliott of Newton; and other relatives and many friends.
