DONALD KOGER

Donald Efton Koger, 75, of Raynesford, Mont., formerly of the Newburg area, died Jan. 24 at Great Falls, Mont., of a ruptured aneurysm.

Military memorial services were conducted Jan. 27 at the Chapel of Chimes in Great Falls, with the Rev. Scott Laird officiating. The body was cremated. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.

He was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Kellogg to John and Bessie Lewis Koger. He was raised and received his education in the Newburg area, graduating from Newburg High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired in 1958 after 20 years of service.

He was married to Claudine Grandstaff in Chicago in 1945. Mr. Koger was a chemical operator for Shell Chemical Co. in Torrance, Calif., for 15 years, retiring in 1973. He then moved to Raynesford where he was a livestock inspector for the state. He retired in 1991.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Judy Mehrens of Tucson, Ariz., and Rae Whitman of Winter Haven, Fla.; one son, Kenneth of Raynesford; one sister, Eva Gobat of Forest Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Opal Paul; and three brothers, Dean, Roy and Russell.
