OBITUARY

Rose E. Bickel, 87, a longtime resident of Coggon, died Saturday, December 12, 2003, in Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, from complications of Alzheimers. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Jason Sweazy and Hester Williams. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to service time on Wednesday. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Paul) Pospisil of Marion and Betty (Tom) Wilson of West Des Moines; a grandson, Brian Pospisil of Marion; a sister, Doris Yokem of Madison, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; three brothers, Leslie, Lyle and Elmer Wertz; and three sisters, Elsie Milligan, Mildred Phillips and Viola Koger.

Rose was born the daughter of George and Anna (Bell) Wertz on February 21, 1916, in Newburg, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Roy C. Bickel on December 17, 1941, in Missouri. He died May 10, 1990. Rose worked at Bezdeks Florist and in the Collins Cafeteria for a few years.

Rose enjoyed cooking, sewing and helping others.
