RITES AT BROOKLYN FOR FORMER RESIDENT, MRS. BERTHA HOLLEY

Funeral services were held at Brooklyn Monday for Mrs. Bertha Dee Holley, former resident of that community, who died Jan. 6 at Burbank, Calif.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. E.W.F. Holler and Mrs. Nina Bartachek furnished the music. Pallbearers were Melvin Doty, Joe Billick, Lloyd Olson, Wayne Frizzell, Ronald Hubbard, and Richard Holley. Interment was in the Brooklyn IOOF cemetery.

The daughter of Major Elijah and Margaret Dee, she was born Sept. 21, 1876, near Brooklyn. She was united in marriage with Emory Holley in 1897 and to this union 10 children were born: Harold and Robert of Seattle, Wash., Eugene of Gilman, Emory of Canoga Park, Calif., Lois Edwards and Dorothy Lowe of San Jose, Calif., Marjorie Bobzin of Newton, May Jennings of Long Beach, Calif., Marion Rockafellow of Studio City, Calif., and Mary Helen Jones of Burbank, Calif.

Surviving are her 10 children, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three nieces, and three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Ackley of Phoenix, Ariz., Lottie Dee of Grinnell, and Mrs. Ella Lineweaver of Des Moines.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1924.

Mrs. Holley made her home near Brooklyn until 1938 when she moved to California to live with a daughter.
