MRS. ELIZABETH LYNCH PASSES IN SHERIDAN

Elizabeth Ann Deeds Lynch was born at Coshocton, Ohio, Dec. 4,1855, and came with her parents to Illinois and from thence to Sheridan township, Iowa, in 1871.

She was united in marriage with William Lynch in 1873. To this union six children were born, all of whom are still living here and have cared for their mother most tenderly and were careful she lacked nothing for her comfort.

Her husband preceded her in death 33 years ago. She made her home mostly with her daughter, Carrie, who gave her untiring devotion and care and seemed to anticipate her every want. The rest were always ready and willing at all times to do anything and everything for a mother who was always kind, patient in suffering, and most appreciative of everything done for her until the end, which came quietly and peacefully, at the age of 79 years, on Sunday morning, July 21. It was easy for her to die but hard to see her go. She shall be missed, her seat will be vacant, the children being careful to carry out her every wish as she related them from time to time during her long sickness. Her children and her friends were never any trouble to her--she was always afraid she might be a trouble to any of them.

How impressive to see the four sons and two sons-in-law carrying their mother to her last resting place, leaving to mourn her loss her one brother, Grant Deeds of Grinnell, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Campbell of Casey, Iowa, and Mrs. John Bostene of Rock Rapids, Ia., the six children and grandchildren, and a host of neighbors and friends, for to know her was to love and respect her. She had lived with them all these years and was noted for her loyalty and devotion to any and every interest in the community, wherever she lived.

The funeral was conducted from the Sheridan M.E. church Tuesday afternoon by W.S. Kight, the pastor, and the crowded church of representatives from the surrounding towns as well as her own community, with the many floral offerings by her friends, bespeak the high esteem in which Mother Lynch was held--a good woman gone but not forgotten.
