LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. COULTER

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethra A. Coulter, 94, were conducted last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer's funeral home in charge of the Rev. M.C. Shupe, pastor of Grace Methodist church. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was organist.

Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with Melvin Doty, Charles Himschoot, Ted Kann, Clyde Graham, Kenneth Gross and Maynard McLain serving as pallbearers . In charge of floral arrangements were Mrs. Maynard McLain, Mrs. Kenneth Gross and Mrs. Josephine Willett.

Ethra A. Brush, eldest child of Thomas P. and Sarah A. Polley Brush, was born Feb. 13, 1864, in a log house near Castalia, Winneshiek county, Iowa. At the age of four years, she came with her family by covered wagon to a prairieland farm in Poweshiek county, north of Brooklyn near the Tama county line, where they built and established a home and where she lived until her marriage to James Frederick Coulter, April 12, 1894, at Montezuma.

Mr. and Mrs. Coulter lived on a farm in Madison township for two years, then moved to the farm one mile west of Brooklyn which they purchased and where they lived 48 years. They moved to Brooklyn in February, 1944. Mr. Coulter died in December, 1944.

Mrs. Coulter remained in her home until ill health prevented her living alone and she entered Community hospital at Grinnell in May, 1957, where she died November 3, 1958, at the age of 94.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Morse E. (LaRue) Crosier of Coggon; a sister, Mrs. Clark (Amanda) Dunlap of Brooklyn and a brother, Ralph E. Brush of El Monte, Calif.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Coulter was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; two half-sisters, Mrs. Alice Beers and Mrs. Mina Stone; an infant sister, Ermina, and three brothers, Charles, Glen and Earl Brush.
