GRACE M. BURTON DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Word has reached Grinnell friends of the death of Miss Grace M. Burton of Los Angeles, Calif., and a former Grinnell resident.

Miss Burton was born in Montezuma on Sept. 30, 1878, and passed away in Los Angeles on Jan. 8, 1966. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Burton. Mr. Burton was Poweshiek County Clerk for a number of years.

The deceased was a sister of the late Arthur M. Burton, Grinnell postmaster for many years. In addition to her parents and her brother, Miss Burton was preceded in death by another brother, Frank, and a sister, Kate Wiley, and a nephew, Keith S. Burton.

Miss Rubie Burton of Santa Barbara, Calif., a niece, is the only survivor.

Following graduation from Grinnell College in 1903, Miss Burton taught Latin and German in Pipestone, Minn., and Oberlin, Ohio. She also trained to be a librarian and worked at the Grinnell College Library for a number of years while she lived in the home of her brother, Arthur, after the death of his wife. Later she was a librarian in the State College Library at Arcata, Calif. Since 1930, she has resided in Los Angeles, Calif.

Services were held in Los Angeles on January 10 and final interment will be in the family plot in Grinnell sometime in April.
