A.M. BURTON, 86, FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN CALIFORNIA

A.M. Burton longtime Grinnell resident and former postmaster here, died last Wednesday at Santa Barbara, Calif., where he had made his home for the past 10 or 12 years.

Mr. Burton who was 86 at the time of his death, clerked at the Grinnell Post Office for many years prior to becoming postmaster.

Funeral services have been held in California and the body cremated. The ashes will be returned to Grinnell tonight (Monday) and will be interred at Hazelwood cemetery. Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Congregational church.

He is survived by one daughter, Miss Rubie Burton. Preceding him in death were his wife and one son, Keith. Mr. Burton was a nephew of the late Sen. Theodore Burton of Ohio.
