HENRY PRINCEHOUSE

On Tuesday the body of Henry Princehouse, one of the early settlers of this part of the country, was brought here for burial at beautiful Hazelwood. The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Hurdle, at 519 Broad street, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.M. Brown, of the Methodist church.

Special music was furnished by friends of the family from Newburg. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. M. Phillips, Mrs. D. Livingston and Mrs. T. Moxley. A number of relatives and friends from out-of-town attended, among them being a brother, Met Princehouse and family of Montour, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Shannon of Marshalltown, Mrs. Fred Hite and Mrs. Rebecca Hite of Gilman and Mrs. Mary Shannon of Newburg. Mrs. Emma Gilfillan, a sister, resides in Grinnell.

All of the living children of Mr. and Mrs. Princehouse were present at his funeral, which was a source of great comfort to Mrs. Princehouse. Mrs. Cora Webster came from the state of Washington to pay her last respects to her father.

Henry Princehouse was born in Peoria county, Ill., February 10, 1842, and died at his home in Des Moines, February 11, 1917, at the age of 75 years and one day.

He was united in marriage to Nancy A. Adams in 1865 in Henry county, Ill., and to this union four children were born: Mrs. Cora Webster of Medical Lake, Wash.; Mrs. Ada E. Robb, Des Moines; Myrta, who passed away nine years ago; Purley L., of Newburg, Iowa.

Mr. Princehouse moved with his family to Jasper county, Iowa, in March, 1877, and settled on a farm near Newburg, where he lived, until ten years ago. At that time he moved to Grinnell where he lived until two years ago, when he went to Des Moines.

He was a member of the Methodist church for forty-five years, a devoted husband and a kind and loving father. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, three children, one brother, three sisters and a host of relatives and friends, who deeply regret his passing and will long remember him as a kind, just and good man. No greater heritage can be left by a man to his family and friends.

The family and relatives wish to thank the kind friends for their generous assistance and thoughfulness at this trying time.
