SERVICES TODAY FOR CORA JORDAN

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home for Mrs. Stacy D. (Cora) Jordan, 83, who died Saturday morning (May 31) at the Spring Valley Manor Nursing Home in Perry, Iowa.

Elder Floy Gross of the Primitive Baptist Church in Queen City, Mo., officiated at the services. Mrs. Leonard Pearce was organist and pallbearers were Harry Buchmeier, Paul Ahrens, Henry Lauber, Orville Kaldenberg, Roy Strasser and Gilbert Taylor.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Fred and Celeste Freeman Elmore, Mrs. Jordan was born near Grinnell on June 11, 1885. She attended the Jasper County school near her family home.

On Dec. 12, 1905 she was married to Stacy Doyle Jordan in Grinnell. Three children were born to this union.

Mr. and Mrs. Jordan had farmed for many years northwest of Grinnell until his retirement in 1963 when they moved to Grinnell. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1965.

Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and a charter member of the Victor Grange. She had made her home in Grinnell at 1533 Seventh Ave., until ill health required her to be near her daughter.

Survivors include two children--Lloyd Jordan of Brookfield, Mo., and Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Hafkey of Perry, Iowa; three grandchildren--Mrs. Pat Brown of Denver, Colo., Susan Jordan of Brookfield, Mo., and Jack Hafkey of North Olmsted, Ohio; for great grandchildren; and one sister--Mrs. Martin Paulson of Grinnell.

Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 2, 1966; one daughter, Lucille Jordan who died Nov. 11, 1926 at age 19; one great granddaughter, and a brother and sister, Lafe Elmore and Emma Elmore.
