EMMA ELMORE DIES SATURDAY; RITES TUESDAY

Miss Emma C. Elmore, 80, a lifelong resident of Grinnell, passed away Saturday afternoon at a local hospital where she had been taken one month ago. She had been in frail health the last 5 years.

Funeral services for Miss Elmore will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Elder Floy Gross, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church of Queen City, Missouri, officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Merle Paulson, Keith Paulson, Lloyd Jordan, John Bailey, Lawrence Sleeuwenhoek and Bill Taylor will be casket bearers.

Organist will be Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Miss Elmore was the daughter of Elder Fred and Mary Freeman Elmore and was born the day following the Grinnell cyclone, June 18, 1882, in Grinnell. She was educated in rural schools near Grinnell and remained in the family home caring for her parents until their deaths. Miss Elmore was a member of the Primitive Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1910; her mother in 1933; and a brother L.P. Elmore in 1950.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Stacy Jordan of Route 2, Grinnell, and Mrs. Martin Paulson of 1422 Spencer Street; and several nieces and nephews.
