MRS. CELESTE CHESHIRE DIES

(From the Montezuma Republican)

Funeral services for Mrs. Celeste Cheshire were held this afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church, the Rev. J. Stanley Decker, pastor of the church, in charge of the services. Burial was made in the local cemetery.

Mrs. J. Lea Taylor and daughter, Dorothy, sang appropriate selections. Louis Gorsuch was at the piano.

Pall bearers were L.E. Thorn, Gus Zirbel, John Allen, T.J. Harden, Sam Bone and E.F. Saunders.

Celeste Ella, the second child of Fredric and Rebecca Kline, was born in Independence, Pa., Sept. 9, 1858. Before she had reached womanhood she moved with her parents to Illinois and later came on to Iowa, and settled at Montezuma.

Here on Aug. 25, 1878, she was united in marriage with Charles E. Sharer. To this union were born seven children, five sons and two daughters, all of whom survive, to mourn the loss of a loving mother. They are, Mrs. Gertrude Cole of Oskaloosa, Fred of Anoka, Minn., Bert of Laurel, Ben, Alva, Mrs. W.J. Cummings and Austin, all of Montezuma. The husband and father passed away Dec. 17, 1926. There are 19 grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and three brothers.

On Mar. 18, 1929, she was united in marriage with Marion Cheshire, who passed away on Nov. 3, 1931, at their home in Grinnell, since which time she had made her home with her daughters here at Montezuma and at Oskaloosa. Mrs. Cheshire had not been in very rugged health for some time, but her last severe illness was of short duration and she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.J. Cummings on Jan. 2 1933.

In 1904 she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Montezuma of which she ever remained a faithful member and a regular and constant attendant upon its services until failing health rendered her unable to do so longer.

She was a kind and faithful wife and mother and was always happiest when surrounded by her family of children and grandchildren.
