OBITUARY.

MRS. JOSIE GRAY DALE

Mrs. Josie Gray Dale died at her home in Grinnell Wednesday at eight-thirty p.m., October 6, 1909, after an illness of several months. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, one son, Claude Dale of Twin Bridges, Montana; Olive Dale, a trained nurse, of Des Moines; Eva Dale, of Grinnell; an aged mother, sisters, brothers and a host of friends. For fifty-three years that immortal spirit had been in the flesh and ever had a welcome hand to extend, a sweet smile and a kind word for all and now that she has gone to her eternal rest there is joy in heaven.

Mrs. Dale was so well known to the people of Madison and Sonora that we scarcely need but mention her death. While for several months she suffered untold pain she always said in her sweet way, Father Thy will be done. On Wednesday she bid each member of the family present goodbye and led the family altar for the last time in a loving prayer. She not only left messages for the absent members of the family, but expressed a desire to send love to friends. While the family are so grieved their loss is heaven's gain. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of many many friends.

A few days before her death, Mrs. Dale called the members of her family together in her room, where the sacrament of the Lord's Supper was administered by Rev. Elias Handy, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Transcriber Note: Iowa WPA Records show Josie A. Dale: b 30 Dec 1856-d 6 Oct 1909; Buried Hazelwood Cem. in Grinnell. Marriage Record gives her birthyear as 1858.
